The Celebrity-Paparazzi Symbiosis
My wife watches this TV show called TMZ where they show how their gossip reporters hound celebrities whenever they spot them at a certain place. They ask stupid or insulting questions just to get under their skin & hopefully get a reaction but oftentimes they just get ignored. There are times though, that these celebs do get pissed off & tell the reporters either to fuck off or in worst cases, physically assault them. I guess it’s the price these stars pay for all their fame & money but sometimes it gets a little too…inhuman, especially when a celebrity can’t even buy a bottle of mineral water at the nearest 7-eleven without being blinded by flashing cameras or people shoving microphones up their faces.
The contributors on the show also poke fun at these stars & treat them like the dumb, shallow creatures that they are(well, most of them anyway). These reporters may treat the celebs like trash, but in reality they won’t exist without them & vice-versa. Celebrities with flagging careers benefit from the publicity they get from the paparrazzi whenever their raunchy, steamy pictures are published(sometimes you wonder if these pics were really leaked or intentionally released) as much as the paparrazzi benefit from them by selling pictures to magazine publishers. It’s like some bizarre form of mutual parasitism. Without one, the other would surely die.
